Hello,

just 2 days ago i stopped recieving hot water from my water heater.
I urgently called my electrical guy and he came, he thought maybe the elements were gone, so he replaced the elements, that did not work. So today he came back and replaced both elements and all thermostats on the water heater. Still the water is not heating. I have power to the heater and also i checked that the main power has not shut off.

Also my electric guy checked if there was voltage coming in with some machine and yes there is voltage!

does anyone know the problem?

Let's start with the basics: do you have water, and it's just not hot, or do you have NO water? If the power is turned back ON to an electric water heater before the tank is completely refilled and all the air bubbles out, that can be almost instantly fatal to the new elements. I think if you have cold water, or if you have NO water, it is time to have a plumber look at it.

hey i do have water, the temp of the water is not hot but not cold. If i turn my cold water on then the water is cold, then when i compare it to the hot water the hot water is a little warmer then the cold. But its not like drastic difference.

My electricain had the power of while changing elements and when he put water in.

For starters...don't call an electrician to do a plumbers job. I'm not trying to be mean..just honest. Plumbers and electricians cost about the same. Your electrician should of told you to call a plumber when you first called him. It is like calling a plumber out to fix a switch that isn't working. Can we do it? A lot of us can..but it isn't our specialty.

(Not trying to sound like a jerk here..just being blunt).

As for what is wrong...if you have power...then the problem is either:

1) Your electrician screwed up

or

2) Your electrician screwed up

There is only 4 parts of a electric water heater that effect whether or not you have hot water.

2 elements and 2 thermostats.

Either he wired something wrong...or he blew your elements after he changed em out.....or he didn't check the ground properly up top.......or he caused your top thermostat to pop and you need to hit the red reset button.

As for what is wrong? Can't tell you cause im not at your house. If you have a continuity reader you can turn the power off and check for continuity on both elements. If you hear a beep..you cave continuity. If you do..the problem is in a thermostat or the wiring connecting the thermostats.

You can go to www.rheem.com and download in PDF format a wiring diagrahm (if it isn't in a little book on the side of your heater) and check to make sure it is wired correctly yourself. Turn the power off before doing this.

There is nothing else that can cause you to have no hot water except a leak in your pipes under your house (not sure if you have a basement). If you have a leak in the ground somewhere you possibly won't get any hot water. You can go see if your meter is running constantly for this (it will be spinning very fast). You didn't report you yard being soaked or any water in your house so i'll guess this isn't the case.

I have to agree. There isn't much to a water heater -- 2 stats, 2 elements. If you have power and it's wired correctly, there is nothing else to check.

Yep, it sounds like someone messed up.
