I have small areas of my carpet that are beyond repair and need to be replaced completely. I can't have a contractor or installer do it, so if anyone could help tell me how to do it? The padding underneath these areas of carpet is probably destroyed too and will need replacing. Thanks!

We'll be happy to talk you through it. But first, a few questions to determine our starting point and then we'll go from there. Are you talking patching what you have or complete room replacement? Do you have any tools? Do you need to know what the tools look like? If you're trying to patch it, is it loop or cut pile?
