I have a '77 MFG Bowrider and want to hand paint the new name on it. Any advice as to the best prep method and type of paint to use? Also, once I'm done, should I put something over it to seal it? Any help is appreciated.

If your an artistic type - and just want to hand paint them because you can - then good luck. Wish I had the talent.

However, if you just want a really nice looking finish - you can buy custom stick on vinyl lettering in almost unlimited sizes/fonts/curves/etc., for about the same price as the paint/prep/finishing that you're about to do. I've ordered all my numbers/letters/names that way - and have been very pleased with the results. I've found some great finishes at Overtons marine supply - at what I consider very reasonable prices.... and it takes only a few minutes to apply them...
