It isn't a leaky faucet in the traditional way, but I have a faucet that turns itself back on when you turn it off. Your basic bathtub faucet (compression?), about ten years old.
Any ideas on why it does this, how to fix it? I can just replace it if I need to, but I kind of want to know why it is doing this.
Thanks,
Phillip

Phillip: welcome to the forums. Try tightening the collar nuts on the hot and cold sides. This will put a little pressure on the stem and possibly prevent them from turning on their own. Otherwise, it is 1-800-ghostbusters.

More likely than not this is a "cartridge type" faucet and the cartridge is just completely worn out.
