This is a great forum and I'm picking up something each time I come here and I would appreciate any advice on my next project.
Last fall I layed up a 6' retaining walls to form my walk up basement entrance (it was engineered). It is such that on exiting the basement you make a 90 degree left and come up the slope. I have a cement mixer and poured my sidewalk last year and intend to mix this myself as well. I want to pour concrete steps the complete width of 5' between the walls for each step. This will prevent the use of a stringer for form. My thought is to use a 2x8 cut to the right length and pour each one seperately to get a 7" riser and then allow for 10"-12" tread. I also figured to use a couple of sticks of 1/2' rebar with each step. Does this sound reasonable? would a 3-2-1 mix used for sidewalks make long lasting exterior stairs? I may pour 18" treads with rebar coming out the back of each tread to lock into the next step.
Any advice would be appreciated
