Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have a Weedwacker (model 172-74533) and the plastic piece that connects the engine to the spool gets striped in a matter of minutes. I've already purchased two replacements from Sears, but both times the new spools keeps on getting stripped.

Does anyone have a solution to this or is this just a really bad design?

Thanks

I'm not sure what piece you're referring to. Something to check for...if you're talking about the housing for the trimmer head stripping (the plastic part that the spool fits up into)...the shaft bushing at the end of the boom could be dry and overheating, causing the threads in the head to get hot and melt/strip.
