I have a 1993 Plymouth Voyager with 148,000 miles on it. Normally just use it around home for hauling large items and junk.....Drove it out of town this weekend to haul some large items and the motor blew up. Just happened so no mechanic has looked at it but assume the motor is shot.

Does it ever make sense to repair or replace an engine in this old of a vehicle? My problem is I like having a vehicle like this for hauling things, etc.
If I buy another used vehicle I know I would have to pay more then the repairs on this one and I still have a used vehicle.

Any thoughts?

It's a crap shoot. I certainly wouldn't spend a LOT on replacing the motor, but possibly you could replace it with a used motor economically. Junkyard motors usually have a short warranty, like 30-60-90 days, so you can swap it if you put it in and it throws a rod on the first rip around the block.
