I have a 9" AC/DC Emerson TV with video tape player that stopped working for no apparent reason. The tape is in the unit and won't eject. The unit powers up and then I press the eject button. It makes a noise (like its tryong to eject) and then shuts down. Any thoughts on what I shouold try to get the tape out and fix the problem?

Sorry to hear about your problem and welcome to the Forums!

It seems as though your tape is jammed within the unit causing the unit to shut down.

The only way of getting it out is to remove the casing. Working within the inerds of a VCR can be frustrating, but working within a TV/VCR combo can be even more so.

If you feel up to it, you can attempt this yourself.

Making sure unit is unplugged is key to doing this safely.

Remove any screws on the back of the unit that is holding the casing on.

Once you get this off, you will see the VCR portion of the unit which can be mind boggling.

With a flat head screw driver, you can plug the unit back in, and while hitting the eject button, attempt to dislodge the tape, careful not to touch a circuit board.

If this does not work, you can try to dismantel the VCR portion which can be a headache. To remove the cage around the tape, you may have to take off 3-4 things just to remove the top portion.

It can be difficult sometimes, so if you don't feel confident, bring the unit to a tv repair shop.

Hopefully something I wrote is helpful to you.
