The last gallon of NAPA mac 6402 I purchased was $46.00 so to try and keep it clean longer I have started putting the paper coffee filters in the little basket and then puting in the parts when it's time to remove the parts the dirt/gunk whatever is in the coffee filter and has not contaminated the entire gallon. Have a good one. Geo

Great tip. And just another thought, perhaps a shop vac filter may do the same but on a bigger scale.

Advance Auto Parts (big on east coast) sells Gunk Carb cleaner, gallon can with strainer basket for $11.86. Is the NAPA product really $35 better?

I've never tried the Gunk bath cleaner but I have tried their spray cleaner and don't think it does a very good job, so I'll stick with the Napa bath cleaner.

Someone gave me a gallon of cleaner with the basket (THANKS!!) but the can was heavily rusted. I went to the store and got a new empty paint can thinking this would be the perfect container. Didn't think of the cleaner eating the coating off the inside of the can. Cleaner still works but I now have gunk in the bottom of the can. - Just had to throw that info out there.

Your problem was probably the same as mine, the cleaner was good but was so filled with junk from stuff that I had cleaned that they looked worse when removed than when they entered. Have a good one. Geo

hey geo,
yea it was a little dirty but worked fine, it actually eats the lining off the can though. some kind of gray stuff that comes off in large pieces.
