Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for what it would cost to install a ductless Carrier system (parts, labor, etc) in a typical Cape Cod style house? I have absolutely no idea what it would cost but the idea of not having to install ducts is inviting. I'm just getting tired of running five window units in my house. Second Floor has two bedrooms, one bathroom. First floor has two Bedrooms, one bathroom, and a small dining room, small living room, and small kitchen, all adjoining. Would also like to do my basement if possible to since half of it is below grade while the other half is not.

Could you provide a website for the Carrier ductless central A/C system you are contemplating? The only ductless systems that I am aware of are "mini splits" where there is a cooling unit hung on the wall in the rooms that require cooling and they connect to the condensiing unit by use of the refrigerant tubing.

Mini splits do work well although I certainly would not call them "central A/C" units and the room units are definitely not an interior decorator's dream.

Furd is right. Some of the "mini-splits" can handle up to 3 or 4 indoor units off of one outdoor but you are getting up into probably the 3 ton & up size equipment. Installation is no walk in the park & the equipment is expensive. If someplace to run the duct work is a problem, & it sounds like it might be, you might want to consider a high velocity system. They use small ducts which can be fished up thru the walls.
