I know there are products out there that lower soil PH level (lime, sulfur, peat moss, etc) but here’s my reasoning for asking. I want to plant an azalea bush right off my concrete patio in the back yard. Every time my water softener regenerates itself the brime solution that it discharges drains to the exact spot I want to plant the azalea. If salt does lower soil PH level my azalea bush will be a happy camper and it will help counteract the natural chemicals in concrete that would normally raise the PH level

Ask your water softener man what the pH is of the waste water and its salt content.
Azaleas like acid soil and should be fertilized with special fertilizer for acid loving plants. Soil should be well-drained. The bush will not be happy planted where water is discharged.
