We are redoing our master bedroom (15' x 17') and we only have a ceiling fan with a light on it. We were considering adding 4 or 6 recessed lights in the room to add more light and allow more control with the light. Do you guys/gals think this is common?

I would love to see any pictures from people who have done this. We are just not sure how well the lights will go with the fan.

We are contemplating this very thing with our bedroom remodel, and we'll be doing the same configuration in the family room as well. I don't think it will look bad at all since recessed lights are "hidden" in the ceiling. But if the lights are on and are located above the fan, and the fan blades are turning, it might create a weird horror film light effect.

logcabincook, you are 100% correct. A lot of people don't consider the "strobe light" effect that can occur if the lights are to close to the blades of the fan. This is the setup I have in my master, and spare bedroom. A ceiling fan, and 4 recessed lights around the room. It looks great in my opinion. I do not have pictures here at work, but can get you one later if you like.
