I have an 8 year old Thermador RDDS30V dual fuel stove with pop up vent. Recently, the two left hand burners stopped working. I turn the knob and nothing happens - no gas, no spark. Everything else is working normally, so I know the electrical and gas supply to the stove is fine. The problem presumably lies between the knob, the burner and whatever little unit responds to the knob. I'd love to be able to fix it myself as I expect it is probably something pretty simple. Thanks for any ideas.

Hello gavinp and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and to the Gas Appliances topic.

I'm not sure what you mean by every thing else is working fine. On the appliance every thing else is working fine as and electric wise? Appliance has 4 burners and only the two left side burners do not work?

Gas not likely to come out of those burners if there is a built in child proof and or accidental turn on locking device on the burners. If the right side has this device the entire stove would have them. If that device fails on one side may still allow other side to operate.

If you must push in on a knob to activate the safety feature and where doing so prior and do so now but nothing happens, the safety interlocking device is likely defective.

Based upon the limited specific and detailed information provide, this is about all I can think of at this time that may be one of several possible causes.

Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.

Thanks for the prompt response. By everything else working fine I mean that the right hand two burners work as normal, as does the oven, clock, vent, etc. I do not believe there is any child lock that I may have accidentally activated, unless you are refering to the need to push in each knob in order to turn the burner on.
I may take a look at it tonight to see if I can see anything else that might be obvious as a problem.
Thanks again.
