Recently we had an alarm tech in to repair our alarm system. That night when we used the "stay" button that you hold down for 2 secs, all seemed well until I went downstairs the next morning and set off the alarm by triggering the motion sensor.
We called ADT and they said they couldn't fix it remotely, so we'd have to call the tech back to reprogram the entire system. I don't believe them.
Is there a way to simply reprogram the stay button? We also tried bypassing the motion detector zone, but haven't been successful with that either.
To bypass, we tried access code+zone 05 + 6 (we found the directions in an earlier post) but that didn't work either.

We have the 832 system and 5010 LCD panel.

Any help on either/both challenge would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks -

Firstly, I think you have your bypassing instructions confused with those for an Ademco style panel.

If you look in your user manual for a Power 832, the correct bypass command is:
*1 + (access codes if required; usually it isn't in a residential system) + [2-digit zone number] + #.

It sounds like the real problem is that the tech programmed your motion detector zone for the wrong zone type (from all indications the "stay" arming hasn't been changed). I'd guess that he set it to zone type 04 (interior), instead of 05 (interior stay/away).

If they are capable of dialing into your system to download programming, they most certainly can correct this without a technician onsite, but they may not be able to dial into your panel (various phone features and gadgets fight with the dial-up software).

If their tech changed this from a working configuration before, then the return service call should be on _their_ dime, not yours.
