I bought a sony receiver with a coax input for the fm antenna. The antenna that came with the reciever was just a piece of wire with no real way of securing it to the male coax input so the wire keeps falling out and I get horrible reception. There's got to be a better way to do this.
Can someone please tell me what I'm missing?
Thanks,
Matt

They sell this cheap adaptor at Radio Shack. You attach the two wires to the screws and push the adaptor into the receiver.

Thanks, any idea what it is called I tried searching their site but couldn't find it.
I don't understand why it comes with such a lousy antenna.

I think they are called COAX combiner(s). I go to Radio Shack or similiar store, they will know what you need.

May also be called an FM Balun coil.
Takes the 300 Ohm dipole antenna down to a 75 ohm coax.
They're cheap.

Thanks for all the info. Any idea why they include such a lousy antenna with these receivers. This was a sony, not a craig or emerson. I just can't see how that single wire could ever work effectively.

They are just being cheap. Go buy yourself a proper dipole antenna and aformentioned adapter. It is only a couple bucks.
