Hey all,

I got this quote from a few years back on here and was wondering if it is still viable to use silicone on the back of a mirror to 'stick' to a wall. The mirrors are not that big.

"I've installed mirrors for many years and never did anything to a painted wall. I use clear silicone and the mirror must be supported at the bottom until the silicone dries (about 12 hours)."

I think it will work and the silicone says it can be used on mirrors etc?

Most mirror installations indicate that one should not use silicone or other aggressive adhesives for mirror installation. If the silicone says it is safe for mirror installation, such as GE 1800 Silicone Sealant– NEUTRAL CURE, which will not cause the discoloration associated with acetic silicone, then it should be safe.

I have used acetic cure silicone for years and never had a problem. The mirrors today are electro copper plated and epoxy painted so that the silver is well protected from the adhesives that are used.
