Hello,
How big of a job is it to remove a toilet from a half bathroom, and put a shower stall in its place. I know I would have to pipe over water going to the controls, but I'm more curious about the drains. Is a toilet drain somehow different than a shower drain? Will this require breaking up floors?
Haven't been able to find this info anywhere.
Thanks!

Yes...you will have to get beneath the floor. You will have to reduce the pipe to 2" and put a p-trap on it...plus you'll have to somehow, by raising or lowering the floor, find a way to slope to the drain. Also check codes on minimum shower size....you may not have enough room by code to do this in a half bath.

In addition, I don't think it will be considered a bathroom without a toilet by appraisers, purchasers, etc.

Most definitely will affect property value. A half bath is important to home buyers.

Thank you for the replies. This is for my business, putting a gym shower shower in an extra 1/2 bathroom in a building.

Check local codes on handicap/grab bars for the shower if it is a commercial building.
