My husband has some extra wood, and he wants to put a pergola over an existing 10 X 10 concrete pad. We get very high winds in the winter, so I want to make sure this thing stays put. What is the best and most secure way to attach the posts? Should we dig post holes outside of the pad and bury the posts in cement, drill anchor brackets into the cement, or buy 4 of those cement blocks with the anchor bracket already attached?

Go with the post holes, bottom of hole below frost line. Good luck.
