Help!
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a door chime problem...
The DSC PC5508Z keypads that I purchased, came with a motherboard with only 6 zones. They are all full and the tech put both my front door and back door on zone#1 and two motion sensors on zone#2, and zone#3 respectively. I simply wanted to change this so that zone#1 was the front door, zone#2 was the back door and zone#3 was the two motion sensors.
So, I rewired the board properly and everything is working fine, except that since zone#2 was initially programmed as a motion sensor, when the back door (now on zone#2) is opened the door does not chime!!
If anyone could help me with the installer codes and methods to attaint this, it would be much appreciated! I do not have an LCD screen on this model.
cheers,
b.

You didn't specify the base system model number, but being 6 zones, with that keypad model, I will assume it to be a PC1555.
The factory default installer code for a 1555 is 5555. The odds are pretty good that the installer you worked with changed this.
You need to change the zone type for zone 2 to an entry exit zone type.
Do you have the installer manual for this system?

MrRon,
Yeah, great guess! I looked and it said that it is a PC1555MX 50/300.
I do not have an installer manual. I have looked all over, but all they gave me was a user manual. I believe the installer changed this code, because I typed in *8 5555 and it went *bip beeeep*.
How do I go about changing the zone type for zone#2 to an entry exit zone type? If I do not have the installer code, can I reset it?
thanks,
b.

The only way to default the installer code also defaults _all_ of the system programming.
As far as changing the zones, what is the current zone configuration (you don't need to know the zone type, just state what each one is) for all 6 zones?

the 6 zones are as follows:
1. front door sensor
2. back door sensor
3. living room/dining room motion detector
4. basement motion detector
5. upstairs door and slider window detector
6. phone line
thanks!

once you go to program with * 8 [installer code]
enter 001
01 01 05 05 05 03 00 00 # #
That will change the zones to do what you want.
