Not what you think.
I have a ranch house and want to do some remodeling, the plans I come up with make my house about 84 feet long.
A garage on one end with the gable towards the street and 24 ft wide. and a bump out on the other end of 6ft.
I will also gable this end towards the street to break it up a little and join the 2 ends with a porch.
Is this long? OR is it just me? I am only 23 feet deep.
I will post some pics if it will help.
Thanks

Do post pictures at www.photobucket or other site and post links here. 84' is long. I once lived in a home that was 70' long. The length is not so much the issue, it's the roof line that helps provide the visual breaks you need in order to avoid the structure looking like a strip mall. Gables will likely give you the breaks you need, but pictures will help generate discussion and input.

This is my house on the right, I want to come out 6 feet all the way to the middle of the front door. And go to the left about 6 feet. With a gable front on all of it.

This is the right where I am putting a 24ft wide garage with a gable towards the front with rock or brick on the front.

I want to connect the 2 in the middle with a nice porch.
Finished product similar to this house.

But the garage will come out a bit further. I am going to ask these people if I can measure their houses length to get an idea.
Thanks for any advice.

How close to the street are you?
Would you favor a carport instead?
Generally, I'd go the length of a longer car plus a few feet.
