In my bathroom the side of the mirrors end up with black marks.I understand there isn't any thing I can do about that. The question is if I put a little SILCONE (clear) along the edge on a new mirror would that stop the moisture from getting in to the mirror sides and causing the black spots. Any other ideas would help to stop the black spots.

Quality bathroom mirrors have special sealant on backs and edges to prevent moisture penetration. You can purchase mirror edge sealer. Check at local home centers and glass and mirror shops.

It's to late now to use Mirror Edge Sealant once the black-edge has started. It is used after the edges of the mirror are polished to form a seal between the edge of the glass and the backing.
