I have a cast iron wash basin in my bathroom and I continually get rust around the plastic flange of the drain assembly . The rust is coming from the raw edge of the opening in the cast iron basin where the drain assembly is installed. When I installed the drain, I used plumber's putty. What can I do to stop this rust?
