TV was bought about 1992. Still has a great picture. Turned it on, and the sound went out within about 10 seconds. If I turn the volume up all the way, I can BARELY hear sound. Thanks for any help.

The speakers may have blown or the ciruitry may be shot. Either case, the repair and parts may be worth more then the set.
It may be time to bury that dinosaur in the yard.
I wish they made TV's as reliable as they were in those days. TV's these days seem to only last 5-6 yrs before dumping hundreds of $$$ into them.

Hey Mark, thanks for the reply. Today I stopped by an electronics shop, and they told me it would be $25 to look at it. And it should not come to more than $100 to $120.
To me, thats a lot better than buying a new tv, being that it still has a great picture and works well. What do you think?
ps- do you repair tv's?

I wish I repaired TV's. TV's are difficult to repair for the DIYer. I actually hire someone to repair my projection.
You are correct, if the picture is great, and it will only cost $120 to repair, I would have it fixed.
If it continually starts having problems, think about a new set.
It's hard find a new CRT TV like you have now. Only a few companies still make them. Everyone is going to flat panels which are very pricey if you want a decent one.
Let us know what exactly the problem was so we can help someone in the future.
