I recently bought a house that came with an air conditioner unit for every room. My friedrich unit in the living room keeps shorting out the power. It was fine for about a month, but now it keeps being a nuisance. Luckily it sits on a designated line and my other electronics aren't effected. What could be the stem of the problem? The electric line or the unit?? I don't understand how if it had been working well for about a month, why now is the electric line shorting out. Does that make any sense. Thanks for the feedback.

If you suspect the electrical circuit to be at fault, you should call an electrician.
Window units, unless it is a simple problem, are usually not worth fixing. Most places which repair window units will charge you a diagnostic fee to look & troubleshoot your unit if you take it to them. If they have to come to you, the charge is a lot higher. Many will not remove nor re-install window units.

Having worked on maybe a thousand of these I can say in my opinion they are trash!
I had several jobs (at schools!) in Virginia Beach with hundreds of these things (heat pumps) at each of about 6 schools. Had electric heaters catching fire, units litterally melting, shorted compressors all sorts of problems. Friedrich went through 6 different designs (before I moved on) and still haddn'tgotten it right.
But, enough about my past experience.
If you turn the fan on by itself does it trip the breaker?
If it doesn't pop the breaker turn on cooling. Does it trip? If so the compressor is grounded.
In all honesty, I'd not try to fix it but get a Carrier to replace it. Fried Rich ( did that on purpose) is good money after bad.
