We are having central air installed at our house (2 AC units) and I need to install the A/C disconnect. I don't have any problems handling the wiring, but when I went to pickup the disconnects, they have both fused and non-fused boxes.
My HVAC installer told me to get the fused model, but I didn't get a real "comfortable" feeling from him that was the correct selection.
What is the difference, and specifically what should I be installing ?
I read the label on the units, and the only thing I saw was specifying a minimum 20 Amp 220V circuit.
Thanks in advance!

Either way is ok, but I usually put in non-fused.

You can go either way or you can get a disconnect with a breaker in it. But you already have the correct size breaker in the panel (do you). A fused disconnect is redundant and not required.
Just make sure the breaker in the panel is whatever the unit MAX size is. If you go MIn you may have trips with nothing at all wrong with the unit.

Also keep in mind if you have a time when the condenser does not start and you suspect a fuse remove it to check it. You will get a feed back of current that will show it as good if you do not remove it.

Like said Use just a disconnect out side by the unit. Have found over the years that one with the fuse in it by the condenser. That after a time the fuse will go and not a thing wrong with the condenser.
