in my house that I am buying there is a damaged foor frame. The preious owner decided that he wanted the door to swing the other direction, and instead of doing it the right way he just hacked up the door frame to put in the hinges.
I want to replace the door frame and put the door back to the normal direction. What is involved in replacing the door frame on this door. It is an interior door.
Thanks for the help

Remove the trim on both sides. Saw out the nails holding the jambs(sides, usually not the top), pull out the frame. Make sure the new frame is plumb/square and flush to the exterior wall covering(drywall), shim as needed. Sometimes walls are way out of plumb, if that is the case, I usually fudge to make things look right and the door work right. You may be able to reuse the trim if you were careful getting it off, but unless it was unusual, I would install new.
