Hello....
I have the old steel hopper windows in my basement. I have cut them out and pried the frames out of the concrete.
The openings are minimal for new windows - so I have 2 questions.....
1 - Can I buy new vinyl sliders to just fit the rough opening and then just shim, tapcon, and spray foam the window right into the cement?
2 - How hard would it to be to hilti out a couple of extra inches to make the rough opening a little bigger?
Thanks in advance....

Those old frames were normally set is an inch or so of mortar. Now that the frames are out, a few good whacks from a maul/chisel wil usually break it loose.

First, are we talking about a poured monolithic wall, or concrete block? Your best bet is to go to a window dealer and have a set of windows made that will exactly fit your opening. Believe me, they can make any configuration you want. Not cheap, but alot better than trying to modify your opening, which may entail new lentil work. If you get a good fit, all you will need to do is tapcon them into the concrete and caulk them on the outside and inside. Post back if we can help further.
