I ripped up 800sf of old long plank maple that was probably original to my 1900 house. It was installed throughout the first floor and covered in linoleum tile at some point. I successfully re-installed the living and dining rooms. The tile adhesive in the kitchen was put on extra thick so the boards from in there are pretty gummed up.
So I am looking for opinions whether I should re-install those boards and sand with a drum sander and playsand as I have read works. Or, will it be more hassle than its worth? If spreading sand over the adhesive areas works well and I won't be changing drum paper a lot more, then I will give it a shot. The boards are in very good shape otherwise, they are 12ft+ and have no knots or defects in the grain.

I decided not to. Im not sure it was a fabulous choice yet since I paid extra for the "select" maple to match the old planks. It supposedly contained less knots and longer planks. I agree with the less knots part, but long planks: I don't think so.
Now I have to see if someone else wants to salvage my vintage maple.
