I need to move an electric dryer to a new home. Does it have to remain in the upright position? or can it be set on its side for the move? It won't fit in our vehicle unless it is on the side. Thank you.

Should keep upright but also should not hurt on its side...

I much prefer to leave 'em standing on their foot-pads, and hand-truck them from the the side; you hand-truck washers from the front.
Hopefully you checked to see if the 220V plug matches the receptacle?
