I noticed 2 unused wires in the panel and traced them to the attic where there are just laying there not connected to anything. One wire is has a single pair (reb, black) and the other has 4 smaller wires.
I am assuming the red/black is for an additional siren in the attic. What would be the purpose of the other one with 4 wires?
The alarm was initially setup for by Ranger American for the previous owners of the house.

What terminals are the these connected too in the panel?
Most likely the two pair (4wire) could have been used for an additional keypad or smoke detector.
The single pair might have been for a additional sensor or siren as you stated.

Neither of the wires are connected to anything on either end. Looks like the installers were planning for future expansion. Just can't figure out why a 1-pair and 2-pair would be run between the panel and the attic.

Most wiring is in the attic. They go from panel, up into attic, and back down in a wall. Looks like thye might have jsut had spare wiring if it's not connected on either side.

In some installations they prewire for the power transformer to be installed in the attic. Most likely, the 4 conductor was a spare for either a keypad or a powered device like a motion detector or a glass break.
