Hello ---

I would like to install a 5ft steel bathtub in my basement as a utility sink. I have 3 dogs and giving them a bath in my bathroom is quite a mess!

I need to build a platform for the tub (and stairs for the dogs) -- I am a real novice ---- Do I just basically build a box out of 2x4 and add a plywood platform for the tub to sit on ?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Ellie

PS: The plumber will set the tub and hook it up -- I just need to get the platform ready for him.........

Yes, you can build it out of 2 x 4's. You might want even pressure treated 2x4's since the stand might see some water spillage.

I would then use some 3/4" exterior grade plywood as the floor.

Does this tub have legs that you can bolts to the floor? If it has no holes to bolts to the floor, then block the legs in using scrape 2x4"'s or smaller.
