I have a DSC 832 with PC 5108 zone expander. I have 12 zones in total. The system installed few months back. Last week i've got a trouble signal indicating zone 10 fault. I removed the wire from the detector and connected a 5.6k resistor to zone 10 and COM. Still have zone 10 fault showing. I disable zone 10 in programming still same result. I have enabled zone 13 and connected detector cable with resistor to this zone. When did *1 to check the zones, zone 13 shows OPEN. Any ideas?

Are you getting a _trouble_ indication, or simply an open zone?
There is a difference. In general, if you put a zone resistor directly on the zone terminals and they still show open, then the input board is damaged. Also, if you system is configured to not use the eol resistors, then what's needed is just a simple piece of wire instead of a resistor; the resistor would still show as an open.
What type of device is supposed to be on this zone?

I have a trouble light on. *2 shows a zone fault (zone 10) eventhough the input to this zone has a 5.6k resistor and COM across it. The zone with open indication is a DSC motion detector connected to it.

What zone type is this zone programmed as?

The zone programmed as 04.

Have your tried turning off options 1 & 2 in section 13?

If you are putting the resistor directly on the zone input, and the motion detector that is not working correctly is the one that was originally connected to the same zone imput, I'm guessing that you have a hardware failure issue.
If the zone worked before, but doesn't work now, then odds are that the 5108 board is damaged, and probably the motion detector as well. This sometimes happens after a nearby lightning strike. DSC hardware is known to be susceptible to induced voltage transients.
