I have just remodeled the downstairs bathroom. I pulled out the sink/vanity and toilet. Replaced both. I have no leaks from either. I have an extra thick wax ring on the toilet since I have installed tile and the sink has the preexisting trap and two new stobs. I have an awful smell coming from the drain in this sink only and nowhere else. Our plumber came by today and was baffled. Please help...anyone?

Remove the trap..see if it has water in it. And while your at it..replace it. I'm saying to check the trap to make sure water isn't being syphoned out of it. I am also saying change the trap because if it is pre-existing..it could have some nasty stuff lining the walls and when you did this work you stirred it up unintentionally. In which case it usually stinks really bad sometimes.
