This alarm system was installed by the previous owner of our house via Ranger American. It has been powered down during the past 2 years and I am trying to get it working as a non-monitored setup.

Everything powers up fine and I initially got a system time loss and TLM trouble code. Entered the time and turned off Section 015 #7. The trouble code went away initially, but about 12 hours later got a "Faliure to Communicate" trouble code. After looking at the FAQ's on this site, turned off 380 #1. Still showing the trouble code after that.

Is there a step to 'reset' the stored trouble code that I missed...or is there something else that's still causing the trouble that needs to be reprogrammed?

I am pretty new to this and would appreciate any help.

Thanks

If you have turned off 15 you should be good. Try setting the alarm off, (meaning arm system, then open a door or something) to force the communications code to go away. Sometimes this gets rid of the code. worth a try until the pros respond.

Just enter your code twice

Sometimes, with the older versions of this panel, the only way that that trouble will clear is with a power cycle (yes, you will have to reset the clock again). Otherwise, it often clears once the system has been armed and disarmed once.

MrRonFL - thanks very much. The power down/power up cleared the trouble code and everything has been fine since then.

Got one more question: I am trying to add 2 wireless glass break sensors to the existing wired setup and need to know if the RF5501-433 keypad would work with my exisitng setup? (The panel on my home system says 1555/50 300UL on it.)

Also are the DSC AC100 glass break sensors compatible with this keypad and if so, what is the general consensus on the AC100?

Again, thanks very much for the replies.

The 5501 keypads are universal replacement/upgrades for all of the power series panels.

The AC-100 is a hardwired glass break. It works with any 12v alarm system, you just need an open zone and a 4-wire harness to connect it.

Most acoustic glass breaks are basically the same. They all are based on the same base technology, and there really isn't a lot of difference other than appearance, and the sensing range, and even that only varies by about 5 feet on average.
