Hi,
I'd like to find out how to wire in an electronic air cleaner without an air switch to a York heater.

I currently have a White Rogers electronic air cleaner mounted below a York heater. (I can post the model if anyone needs it) It stopped working. It has a bad power supply. It currently has an air switch. I thought it might be nice to buy a new one without the air switch so it would be one less thing to go wrong. Unless anyone feels it's a bad idea?

Thank you,

Id say more like take the EAC out and put in a good media filter like Air bear or Aprilaire. People just dont keep the EAC clean like they should . So they dont do the job they can

Thanks for the reply.

According to the specifications I found:
Electronic Air Cleaners are 98% efficient
Media Air Filters are 35% efficient
Electrostatic Media Filters are 15% efficient
Standard Filters are 5% efficient

Of course there are lots of other specifications. If the EAC isn't kept clean than the filter isn't going to be replaced either. I'd rather stick with the EAC.

So I'm still looking for directions on how to connect the EAC to the fan switch.

Thank you,

You really need the air switch because it turns the EAC on/off in response to airflow. You could come up with a relay wiring scheme to do the same thing but it would have to work on both blower motor speeds which would be reinventing the wheel.

Might check and see if the heater unit has a board and you can go to H on it.
Or put a current sensing relay#50. On the blower wires

The air switch is there to ensure airflow through the EAC before it turns on. Thus saving both the EAC and keeping the local firemen at the station and not pouring water all over and inside your HOUSE.

Now if you were looking for info to see if the air switch was a problem that is preventing the EAC from working, I'd ask for model numbers and do a little reasearch to help you.

But to help you take out a safety switch just because you want your EAC to set there and cook without the fan running? Sorry no help here.
