I am planning to put some carpeting on my deck. I know the carpet that I want but my question is, should I put plywood down underneath the carpet or should i just put in down over the existing boards which are not in the best condition. I have diffenent opinions from Home depot, as well as friends, so I figured I may as well try a forum.
Thanks in advance

Define, "not in the best condition". It has been my experience that plywood with carpet over it in an outdoor setting tends to rot more readily than boards with gaps between them that allow water to drain away and air to get to the underside some in order to dry more rapidly. Just one guys opinion.

Too, carpet over deck boards will trap moisture and expedite decay.
