I have the above modeled self-propelled Snapper and after a long winter in the garage, it seems to be leaking gas. I don't know anything about terminology, but if I had to describe it- it looks like the gas is leaking from a valve that is coming out from underneath the tank. what's the problem here? is the tank cracked? is the valve too loose? do i have to pay someone to fix this or can i do it myself, despite my total lack of knowlege of lawn mowers?

also, it's not leaking fast, just a slow drip. it's pooling, but drying up quickly on top of the mower.

Sounds like you may have to replace the valve, but if the fuel line is rubber, it may have just cracked a bit. You could trim the line back a half inch or so if you have the slack and put it back on.
