Thank you so much for a great place to post questions and get good solid advice!
Our house has a vent for our dryer that goes straight up through the attic. Despite diligent cleaning of the lint filter each and every load, the vent gets clogged and we find out the hard way when a part burns out. We also have an individual come out once a year to physically use clear the vertical vent with a scrub brush (a chimney sweep). At this point we would like to look at venting horizontally, but our only option is to the garage. We are concerned about venting to the garage due to the high humidity, which would not be good for my husbands power tools! Any suggestions?

Unsealed/fire resistant penetrations into a garage are not legal. And having something attached with fire inside, where there can be gas fumes, sounds a bit risky. And most fire codes regulate the length of dryer ducts to 25' of straight run. Each angle takes 5' from that length.
I have seen too many houses where the location of the laundry room is given little or no thought. Sounds like you have one, too.

Sounds like your doing everything right! How long is the duct run?

Thank you for your replies.
We aren't looking to do anything illegal or cause a fire hazard to our home! We are investigating alternatives to the current vertical vent and are looking to go to a store like Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and buy a sealed vent that would allow a safe and legal vent to the garage. We like our home and certainly don't want to set it up for a fire hazard. As I stated, though, the high humidity could be detrimental to the power tools. I was just hoping someone here might have experience with this and be able to suggest something to deal with the humidity problem. Directly across from the dryer is a wall that is external to the house, but no way to sucessfully vent outside that we know of without a major expensive remodel.
Duct run from the dryer to the current wall vent is maintained with a 3 foot flexible hosing extended only one foot to the wall from the dryer. The proposed new horizontal vent would be two feet with one 90 degree turn venting to the garage,
