ok we bought this unit used very nice but the other day my wife was washing a load and she noticed smoke in the garage opened the lid and there was smoke in the tub and a smell of hot rubber now this unit dows not spin but when its running you open the lid and i can hear the ?? it sound like somthing spinning down would this be a belt or somthing more major and how do i tell for sure does anyone have a guide ??

Have you tried to take the front panel of the machine off yet, to see, since your post? I can advise more further if you haven't got your answer yet.
