i have a 3 family house i want to buy a water heater how many gallons do i need there are 5 peoplle that live in the whole house [ a gas water heater ]

I would suggest a 75 or 100 gallon tank, minimum 75,000 BTU. Anything smaller, and you will have complaints as they try to take showers at the same time.

One good comparison is : What size is there now? Is the performance satisfactory or do you run out of hot water?
