I know they're about the same price, but what are the differences going to be in the finished product? I have never used a water based urethane before, but on my next job I just might. The smell of the oil based is horrendous.

Thanx
Jim

Odor and drying time are two big differences. Oil takes hrs to dry, water much quicker. Oil will darken the wood, and likely have an amber color, which some prefer. Water will not change the color of the wood, or only slightly. Some still think that oil based is tougher, but that difference is changing all the time, water is also a tough finish. Oil less prone to brush marks, due to slow drying time.

Thanx for the info. For some reason I always thought water based would take longer to dry.
I will do a search.
Thanx again

Quality two part water based does actually cost more, close to 100$ a gallon. Some water based are yellowed to give the effect of oil based.

You better haul butt to keep a wet edge with waterbased. You can realistically get two coats on in a day, with waterbased. Making job scheduling better, to keep cash flow, from completions.
