Greetings, I'm building a new home with an 8 foot wide elevated concrete porch with awning. Under the porch will be enclosed, the inner porch support is the house and the outer support is standard 2 x 6 wall that the porch floor joists rest on. My guestion is, how can I attach the 6 x 6 support post for the awning? I haven't had any luck finding a Simpson post support bracket that would attach to the support wall and also support the post off of the concrete. I was think about making a 1/8 steel pocket say 12 inches tall that the post could bolt in, with opposing flanges to attach to the wall top plates, then poor the concrete around that. The real goal is to keep water from contact with the post. Any suggestions welcomed, thanks, Bob
