Hello, I'm puting in granite kitchen counters these are prefab 2by8' granite slabs. My question is do I need to remove the existing 4x4" white tiles that are currently on the kitchen counter. They seem to be on solid on the counter, and would it make any difference in removing them?

Thanks for your help!

You can take a hammer and smash the old tile out (wear safety glasses)

Hopefully the thinset used to put down that tile comes up, if not, you may have more work cut out for you.

I personally wouldn't put granite over existing tile. I wouldn't think the tile would have enough "grip" to hold the new granite adhesive.
