How much would a ballpark figure be to drywall/sheetrock a 9' x 10' room?
With a closet taking up most of one wall & a window taking up another.
Room is bare right down to the studs...we'll be putting the insulation in ourselves.
also, just wondering is there a difference between drywall & sheetrock?
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums! Sheetrock is a brand name, and drywall is what it is. Not sure where you are located, but around here it runs about $50 per sheet, finished to accept paint. Don't forget to figure in the sheetrock for the ceilings and the inside of the closet.

$50 a sheet?? For drywall??? Maybe you meant $5 per sheet. HD has it for $4 or so for a 4x8.

Pipsisiwah if you will reread Larry's post you will see that his estimate was for hanging & finishing it ready for paint.
Drywall prices like lumber tend to go up and down a lot. I haven't priced drywall lately but the last time I noticed at Lowes it was $10 per sheet

Yow! $10???!
That's as bad as SW paint at $50/gallon!
Anyway, I glanced over the comment "finished to accept paint", thinking it sounded kinda funny because all drywall accepts paint... didn't dawn on me it meant "installed".

4x8 sheets are averaging $10/sheet.... 4 X 12 averages around $11.50. 5 gallons of mud is running about $10 also....
Just bought/installed 50 sheets.... from the big box store... Midwest.....

I can be alot - we were not quoted less than $5k for a 15x30 basement finish. If you've never done it before, it may be worth it. I spent nearly a month fixing the problems with our first drywall install. If we had not rushed, we definitely wouldn't have had as many problems.
Some contractors may arrange for the drywall ordering, others want you to order it, and both can have advantages. When price comparing be sure to include the cost of delivery. We found a company that will deliver to our rural, mountainous driveway AND take all the sheets INSIDE for us for only $25 or $50 or some ridiculously low price like that, but we are ordering enough from them they are considering us to be "contractors". Our local big box store, which is considerably closer, wants no less than $75 to drop it off in the driveway.
Just remember to shop shop shop around, for both suppliers and contractors. Good luck!

I did fail to mention it was 4x12 x1/2" sheets, but finished to accept paint means taped and sanded to a good finish. $50 per sheet really isn't alot considering the initial cost of the rock, delivery, install, taping, sanding....I hate sheetrock.
