We recently moved into a new place w/ the 832. It wasn't active, so we replaced the motherboard (installer had locked it out). In the end, we brought out an alarm tech to program it for us.
However, it appears that the braniac didn't verify that it would dial out as we weren't activiating with his company. Now our alarm company wants me to verify that it's connected to a phone line (as they can't dial in and the test wasn't received).
I looked at the wiring and it appears that there are wires coming in from a phone line into the TIP and RING terminals, but there are no wires coming out from R-1 and T-1 and there is no RJ-31x box anywhere in sight.
Is there a way I can test the system to verify it's connected to a phone line (besides crawling under the house and following a wire)? And is it a problem that it's not connected to our home phone?
I know just enough to be dangerous about this alarm system. Thanks in advance for your help.

The quickest dirty test you can do is to take a couple of alligator clip jumpers and a cheap phone jack and connect the phone jack to those wires and see if there is a dial tone by plugging in any regular hardwire phone set.
The wiring really isn't correct, as a proper connection would bring in the dial tone from the NID and the R1/T1 would return the phone line to all of the house phones (with a proper rj-31x jack). It would work, however but the line siezure won't work in this configuration.
