I have two System Sensor 1412B 4-Wire, Ionization Smoke Detectors already installed in the alarm system. The panel is a 4110xm. I would like to add two more detectors to the system. What other units are compatable? I have seen other smoke detectors that are of a less profile (smaller) than the 1412b's. One would be in a finished basement, the other in my den area. Are any 4 wire, 12 volt units ok to use.

I personally favor the newer version by the same company: the System Sensor 4W-B (www.systemsensor.com). They are one of the least obtrusive smoke detector designs I've worked with, and they are very high quality. Their site also has lots of good information on placement and application.

Almost any 4 wire smoke detector will work on your system. Make sure you are not exceeding the current output of the alarm panel and insure you connect the new detectors in paralell with the others or put them on a zone by themselves
