Whirlpool Supercapacity 465 gas oven (3-4 years old), won't ignite. The display doesn't beep when a button is pressed like usual, the clock is working, oven is not locked, and no timed cook has been set. It simply won't ignite.. what is going on?

We have had an occasional 'PF' message in the past.. actually, it happened right in the middle of Thanksgiving! Are these related?

Hello kbuicker and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and to the Gas Appliances topic.

"PF" indicates a power failure occurred. Which may be in the appliance itself or as a result of electrical power to the appliance failed. Circuit breaker to the wall outlet in the main electrical panel or a fuse in the main panel, etc.

Why the oven will not heat up may be do to a weak or defective glow igniter (HSI). In that case the igniter has to be replaced. All instructions are in the stick note and within recently posted questions pertaining to ovens.

Lack of a beep at the control panel may indicate the touch pad for that function is defective or the main circuit board has a defective component, etc. Both touch pad and or circuit board can be removed for replacement if either or both are defective.

Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.

Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers on line web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, repair and or owners manuals which may be available on line.

Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
