Hello,

In my kitchen I have tiled counter tops with wooden edging. Near the sink, the wood has rotted quite a bit. How do I replace this wooden edging? Is it possible to cut it away and replace it with a similar type of edging? Would that be enormously difficult?

As a stop gap measure, some sort of particle wood glue-like substance was put on the rotted wood, but the whole thing looks absolutely terrible.

Thanks.
Ash

Ash, welcome to the forums! The edging is usually a hardwood such as maple, but yours may be a different species. The edging is probably just nailed into the substrate (possibly glued, also). A careful prying should release it. However, be prepared to replace a good portion, or all of it once you start your exploratory surgery.
