I have have a hardwood floor to refinish and I've always applied the finish with lambs wool. However now that I'm getting into larger painting and refinishing using an airless sprayer I was wondering about using it to apply the floor finish as well.
Basically it would be a coat of quick dry sealer the same day as sanding. Then a coat of urethane the next day.
Has amyone ever used this method of application?
Thanx
Jim

What type of sprayer do you have? If it's the Wagner Paint Crew type sprayer, I don't think you can use quick dry type coatings in it or the gloss, I may be wrong though.
I believe you can only use these type of coatings in a gravity fed sprayer.
I will be corrected if I'm wrong.

No, it's not wagner paint crew. It's a 3000 psi commercial grade airless sprayer. I know the sprayer will spray the product, I'm just wondering if there's any precautions I should be aware of as I have never sprayed urethane on a floor. Only used lambs wool, but I know(or at least I think) spraying it will be quicker and give a more even coat and therefore a better end result. I have a wide range of tips for spraying very thick material to very thin material.

As a painter I've done my share of spraying and have sprayed varnish/poly many times. I doubt that it would be a good idea on a floor because as overspray settles I would think that it would result in a rougher finish than a lambs wool pad or even a roller would give. It would be possible to apply a heavier coat but that would also result in longer drying time.
