Does anyone have general info on a Toro TC700 gas lawn trimmer (SRM-200AET). Year, fuel mixture etc. Thank you, gary

You should find a sticker with an actual model and serial numbers, most likely on the shaft of the trimmer. Note these numbers and go to this link and type them in where required and you will have all the information you need. https://homeownersolutions.toro.com/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&cached=true&parentname=CommunityPage&parentid=2&in_hi_userid=19461&control=SetCommunity&CommunityID=214&PageID=0

Know what I can use for an ignition coil for this? The originals are obsolete

Bruce, is yours this exact same model number? If so, then check with an Echo dealer or one of several aftermarket suppliers...Stens, Rotary, Oregon, etc.

The Echo model was an SRM-200AE. My Toro is an
SRM-200AET. Are they one and the same? Can they use the same ignition coil? Someone said that it also went under the Lawn-Boy name.

Not absolutely certain but confidently so that they are the same unit.

As far as I can determine the current 21.2 cc engine echo uses now is basically the same engine they used then. Shouldn't they be able to use the same coil? What determines the coil they use?

Radius, bolt pattern, power, demand, etc. In other words, could be many variables.
